BRIEF REVIEW: Andy Smith, Solo Acoustic Set @ Blind Bob's

. . . . . . . . . . . . .Andy Smith, Confident Singer/Songwriter

A tip of the hat to Andy "the Andy-Man" Smith for an excellent solo set last night at Blind Bob's. The boy played and sang like he's been doing it for decades - lots of confidence, nuance, and projection in both his voice and guitar playing.

And when Andy Smith sings, people listen.

The previous week
at the Canal Street (with The Pretty Punchers) you could've heard the proverbial pin drop when he sang "Goodbye Ohio." During that song it got as quiet as I have ever heard it at Canal Street. I quickly experienced those combo symptoms of "musical nirvana" - goose blimps and eyes of teariness.

Last night's personal highlight was the absolute total surprise *slam dunk right on the money nailed it* performance of "A Primrose For Emily" from a very rare and limited edition 2007 CD release by ANDREW AND THE ACCOUNTANT (Andy and Greg Saluke of The Pretty Punchers).

Coming in a very close second in the personal highlight department last night was the world premier performance of a new song titled "The Lamps And Their Light." (see June 4th blog post below for more on this gem). This song will be appearing on the side project CD titled "Tables & Chairs" (tentatively scheduled for a September release).

[Ed Note: Stay tuned for a possible Kevin's (Myth) world premier video ***EXCLUSIVE*** of an ANDREW AND THE PRETTY PUNCHERS live performance]
